May is officially Arthritis Awareness Month. However, for many of my patients who suffer with the pain and stiffness of arthritis, EVERY month is arthritis month.
There are more than 100 different types of arthritis including osteoarthritis (degenerative), rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and gout. A thorough diagnosis is necessary in order to determine the particular type of arthritis and the proper treatment plan to keep patients active.
When should you make an appointment to talk to me about your joint pain and stiffness? Anytime your joint pain interferes with everyday activities; please call to schedule an appointment: 501-922-2217
If you have pain in your joint after repeated use or at the end of the day, you may be suffering from osteoarthritis. Morning stiffness, swelling and pain with inflammation, redness and warmth around the joint area are signs of rheumatoid arthritis. An exam and testing can determine the best course of treatment for your arthritis symptoms.
Treatment plans for arthritis may include drug therapy, physical therapy, topical ointments, surgical options as well as massage or exercise to improve mobility and reduce pain.
